Liberty Theatre Foundation Inc.

Mission

The Liberty Theatre Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization. Our goal is to restore and operate the historic Liberty Theatre located at 1010 Adams Avenue in La Grande, Oregon.

The restored theater will serve the region as:

  •  A center for performing arts and education
  • An historic and cultural resource
  • An economic hub for the entire region
  • A venue for speakers, music, art, dance and theater

The  Liberty Theatre was opened as the Orpheum Theatre in 1910, operated as the Arcade from 1911 to 1930 and as the Liberty from 1959 when it was remodeled for commercial purposes. Initially serving as a cultural venue for vaudeville, traveling theater, early movies and a varied dance and music performances, the Liberty last served as a movie theater with an historic ambiance.

Originally seating 632 patrons, The Liberty Theatre survived several remodels, yet retained an historic flavor with a distinguishing balcony and stage, wall decor and wool carpeting, radiators, and unique chandelier and lighting features. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1999 and was a contributing structure in the 2001 nomination for the La Grande Historic District.

Habitat for Humanity - Grande Ronde Valley

At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities, we build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves.

Your donation will help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. Your support can help us do more in all the many ways that Habitat builds.

Thanks to you, Habitat is transforming the lives of more than 4 million people around the world!

Union County Chamber of Commerce

The Union County Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization supported primarily by member dues (that makes us a 501c(6) organization, for anyone who's keeping track). Because of that, we like to keep the focus on our members: what you're doing, how you're succeeding, and what we can do for you. So, when it comes time to toot our own horn, we don't do it too loudly. But here's what your Chamber is working on every day to help our members be successful. We champion business-friendly legislature and build strong relationships with our area's elected officials. We coordinate educational and professional development opportunities, providing these programs at a far lower price than you'd pay for an out-of-town affair. We host networking opportunities and roll out the welcome mat for new community members, often showcasing the depth and breadth of services and retail our members offer. We also work with our local media, often developing advertising programs that help you get your message delivered to consumers at a significantly reduced rate. We've spoken out about field burning, forest management, zoning and development, reinstating the Amtrak Pioneer Route, and taxes. We're involved in our cities' events, and support many activities around the county, from the Union Stock Show in June to Celebrate La Grande in September. We coordinate the annual Parade of Lights, kicking off the holiday shopping season. We work with EOU to engage students in off-campus activities (like shopping and dining), and we champion agriculture at the Farmer-Merchant banquet. So, what does the Chamber do? You've just read the long answer. The short answer is this: we take care of business.
