La Grande Church of the Nazarene

La Grande Church of the Nazarene Core Values

At the LaGrande Church of the Nazarene, we hold these values to be essential for us to be the individuals and church that God desires us to be.
1. We believe the foundation of our lives needs to be a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. This relationship is started when a person confesses their sin, asks for God's forgiveness and allows Jesus to come into their heart and live there. The relationship grows as the individual reads, studies and applies the truth of the BIBLE to their lives, spends time in personal and corporate PRAYER, meets together with other Christians in BIBLE STUDIES and WORSHIP services. The purpose of this growth is that God would change us to become more and more like Jesus and that we would live a HOLY LIFE in the power and control of the Spirit.
2. We believe that everyone is important in the LIFE OF THE BODY, therefore we will have meaningful, appropriate classes and activities that minister to CHILDREN, YOUTH, ADULTS (both singles and married), SR. ADULTS and FAMILIES that will help them develop in their individual areas and in the Body as a whole.
3. We believe that we are to be MISSIONAL. That God has called us to join him in fulfilling his purpose in saving the world. Therefore, we are called to share the Gospel through EVANGELISM (helping people begin a relationship with Jesus), DISCIPLESHIP (helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus) and continually SHARING THE LOVE OF JESUS IN A PRACTICAL WAY to those who are in need. We believe this mission is to be done on both the LOCAL and GLOBAL levels.
4. We believe that all believers should be involved in PERSONAL AND CORPORATE WORSHIP. This worship is enhanced through SPIRITUAL MUSIC (of many varieties), PRAYERFULLY SEEKING GOD and his desire for our lives and through PREACHING that begins with the TRUTH OF THE BIBLE and then shows how that Truth applies to our lives and our world.
5. We believe that we, as individuals and as a church, should be faithful STEWARDS of the resources God has blessed us with. This includes, but is not limited to our FINANCES, FACILITIES, TIME AND TALENTS. Each of these should be used as God directs and should be used in such a way that GOD RECIEVES THE GLORY.

Mission

The Liberty Theatre Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization. Our goal is to restore and operate the historic Liberty Theatre located at 1010 Adams Avenue in La Grande, Oregon.

The restored theater will serve the region as:

  •  A center for performing arts and education
  • An historic and cultural resource
  • An economic hub for the entire region
  • A venue for speakers, music, art, dance and theater

The  Liberty Theatre was opened as the Orpheum Theatre in 1910, operated as the Arcade from 1911 to 1930 and as the Liberty from 1959 when it was remodeled for commercial purposes. Initially serving as a cultural venue for vaudeville, traveling theater, early movies and a varied dance and music performances, the Liberty last served as a movie theater with an historic ambiance.

Originally seating 632 patrons, The Liberty Theatre survived several remodels, yet retained an historic flavor with a distinguishing balcony and stage, wall decor and wool carpeting, radiators, and unique chandelier and lighting features. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1999 and was a contributing structure in the 2001 nomination for the La Grande Historic District.

La Grande Seventh-day Adventist Church

About Seventh-day Adventists
.
Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons--the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit--make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything--the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us--is a part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.

The Capital God Has Given Us

As Brigham Young passed through poverty and plenty time and time again in the early years of the Church, he developed a key insight that he later passed on to his daughters. "Our time is all the capital God has given us," he told them, "and if we waste that we are bankrupt indeed."

La Grande Church of Christ

What We Do

We are determined to follow the New Testament pattern for the organization, work and worship of the church. We want to be able to show "book, chapter, and verse" for all of our practices. Our mission is simple. Since the Lord's church is the "pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15), our purpose is to promote the teachings of Christ and to give our greatest effort to live by those teachings (John 1:14; 14:6; 2 John 9). Many religious groups have shifted their focus from spiritual teaching to social and recreational activities. This shift in emphasis has resulted in a neglect of man's most important need, i.e., preparing the soul to meet its Maker (Mark 8:36-37). Christians are commanded, "whatever you do in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Colossians 3:17); this means that our teaching and practice must be authorized by the New Testament. We, at the La Grande Church of Christ, strive to meet this divine requirement both in our lives and in our work together as a congregation. If you were to visit our services you would observe that we follow the same arrangement as New Testament churches did under the direction of the Lord's apostles. We sing "psalms, hymns and spiritual songs" together . We teach the Word of God (Acts 2:42). On the first day of the week (Sunday) we also commemorate the death of Christ (Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 20:7). We contribute from our earnings and possessions for the advancement of the cause of Christ in the areas of evangelism, edification through teaching and benevolence (1 Corinthians 9:14; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5). In summary, we strive to maintain an orderly service together (1 Corinthians 14:40).

Union County Chamber of Commerce

The Union County Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization supported primarily by member dues (that makes us a 501c(6) organization, for anyone who's keeping track). Because of that, we like to keep the focus on our members: what you're doing, how you're succeeding, and what we can do for you. So, when it comes time to toot our own horn, we don't do it too loudly. But here's what your Chamber is working on every day to help our members be successful. We champion business-friendly legislature and build strong relationships with our area's elected officials. We coordinate educational and professional development opportunities, providing these programs at a far lower price than you'd pay for an out-of-town affair. We host networking opportunities and roll out the welcome mat for new community members, often showcasing the depth and breadth of services and retail our members offer. We also work with our local media, often developing advertising programs that help you get your message delivered to consumers at a significantly reduced rate. We've spoken out about field burning, forest management, zoning and development, reinstating the Amtrak Pioneer Route, and taxes. We're involved in our cities' events, and support many activities around the county, from the Union Stock Show in June to Celebrate La Grande in September. We coordinate the annual Parade of Lights, kicking off the holiday shopping season. We work with EOU to engage students in off-campus activities (like shopping and dining), and we champion agriculture at the Farmer-Merchant banquet. So, what does the Chamber do? You've just read the long answer. The short answer is this: we take care of business.

First Christian Church

The church is about people...people serving, people learning, people enjoying each other, people at work and worship, people growing together, people taking care of each other.

The church is about also about change...starting with ourselves on the path to becoming more Christlike. Along the way we strive for positive change in our community through local missions and outreach service projects...and in our world through national and international disaster relief and missionary giving.

But mostly the church is about Jesus...doing all of these things in His name. The church is His body, and we its members...praying and working for His kingdom to further come and His will to be further done on earth.

About Our Family

This family that is Faith Center began its journey nearly 30 years ago in a simple living room here in the Grande Ronde Valley.

Today we are a growing, thriving church of all ages learning what it means to be followers of Christ. Experiencing what it means to live in transparent, authentic relationship with God and with each other. Learning that it really is all about the journey and the simple truth of loving God and loving people is more than just a slogan.

We would love to hear from you!
